Yoga can be a helpful part of managing some forms of chronic low-back pain, and core-stability exercises may improve pain and function—but back pain has many possible causes, so a “weak core” should not automatically be assumed to be the only problem.
A lack of training or long periods of inactivity can increase injury risk, especially when someone suddenly returns to demanding activity. Inactivity can reduce muscle strength and physical capacity, while appropriately progressive training helps the body build the strength, balance, coordination, and tolerance needed for movement.
