Keep the breath quiet and comfortable. If 4 seconds in and 6 seconds out feels too long, shorten the rhythm and breathe naturally.

1

Settle

Sit or stand comfortably. Relax your jaw and shoulders.

30 sec
2

Inhale gently

Breathe in comfortably through your nose if that feels natural.

4 sec
3

Exhale slowly

Let the breath out easily. Do not force the last bit of air.

6 sec
4

Repeat

Continue at an easy rhythm. Calm and comfort matter more than perfect timing.

Quiet, easy and unforced.

A breathing practice should feel comfortable. The goal is not to take the biggest breath possible—it is simply to slow the rhythm and bring attention back to the present moment.

Relax the shouldersLet the breath happen without lifting or bracing the upper body.
No breath holdsThis practice moves directly from inhale to exhale.
Shorten if neededTry a shorter inhale and exhale if the suggested rhythm feels uncomfortable.
Return to normal anytimeYour natural breath is always the fallback.

A small reset you can use anywhere.

Try it before bed, after a busy meeting or whenever you want a deliberate transition between parts of your day.

“Five minutes can be enough to change the pace of the moment.”
Breathing note: Breathe gently and never force the timing. Return to normal breathing if you feel light-headed, short of breath, anxious or uncomfortable. People with respiratory, cardiovascular or other medical conditions should seek individualized guidance when appropriate.
